Gift Registry in a Box

This section contains detailed introductory information for implementing a gift registry using Gift Registry in a Box. These are the steps involved:

  1. Read the Gift Registry in a Box Agreement.

  2. Fill out the Gift Registry in a Box Signup Form. You will be contacted with the account information you'll need to setup your gift registry.

  3. Use the Box Administration Tool to modify the pages to reflect your site's look and feel.

  4. Add links to your site that are aimed at the Box pages you've just created. Your Gift Registry is now complete and ready to go!

Site Flow
The image below is a high-level overview of the Gift Registry in a Box solution. The Partner Gateway page is the entry point to the customized Box pages NetGift hosts for the merchant. There are three primary entry points: a product detail page where shoppers click on an "Add this item to my Gift Registry" link, a "My Gift List" link and a "Find Member" link. These high-level entry points are described in the Gift Registry in a Box Implementation Guide (which you will receive after signing up). However, just about every Box page is available for partners to link to as long as the appropriate URL referral parameters are specified. The Gift Registry in a Box Referral Specification describes all of the available links and their parameters in greater detail. You will receive this document after signing up.

In general there are four integration points with the Box.
  1. The first is the ‘Add to Registry’ button on a product detail or search result page.
  2. The second is a link to ‘Find Member’ which allows for the ability to lookup members by name or e-mail address.
  3. The third is a link to 'My Gift List', which is a link to the members gift list page (essentially their personal gift registry home page).
  4. The final integration point is the purchase transaction/confirmation interface that is actually performed behind the scenes upon completing a purchase of an item out of a member's Gift List.

Customization Options
Each Box page has the following structure:

The partner has control over the header, side-bar and footer elements. NetGift expects an html include file which contains or has links to the appropriate collateral (e.g. images). If no includes are utilized by the partner then they must provide a place holder include file. If the partner does not provide an include file, the default includes will be used.

Within the body of a page there are various ‘areas’. The following chart provides a quick summary of the v1.1 elements. More elements and controls are currently being added to this group for v2.0.

Note that the partner can control each of these elements, along with the include file uploads, etc. through an administration tool provided by NetGift. This tool allows the partner to make changes, preview the changes and otherwise validate the look and feel of the pages within their timing and schedule.
