Educational Technologies Software & Services, Inc. is a woman-owned company that was incorporated in North Carolina in 1995. We have been, however, in business since 1986. Initially, we provided teacher recruitment and teacher training to public school districts. We gradually began to focus on products and services for federal and special programs, including curriculum and administrative software. Our initial administrative products, ADVANTAGE and SUCCESS, were designed to meet specific needs within the educational system. ADVANTAGE provided a means of federal reporting and test results analysis. With ADVANTAGE, users could complete mandated federal reports such as those for Title I or Migrant education. They could also analyze student achievement by grade, teacher, ethnicity, school, or instructional program. Such results could be analyzed over time for program planning. This true longitudinal analysis and disaggregation of data set us apart from what was currently available from testing companies or general student information systems. SUCCESS provided a means to capture in-depth discipline and intervention data for case-management of high-need students. Discipline could be analyzed by referring teacher, time of day, type of infraction, etc. Intervention strategies could be tracked and evaluated. Analysis of suspensions and referrals to alternative placements could be completed. This proved extremely useful in documentation for due process. Because our users found ADVANTAGE and SUCCESS so easy-to-use and yet so helpful in meeting student needs, they encouraged us to combine the products and expand upon them to offer a complete student information system. They indicated that they needed, and could not find elsewhere, the analytical capabilities and ease-of-use of our products to manage daily operations.
