About UsThe Wake County Business Education Network is the result of a generous grant from the MCI WorldCom Foundation. Last November, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce was awarded the grant as part of MCI WorldCom's Hometown Help Project. Wake County is one of 16 locations nationwide participating in this exciting program designed to put technology to work for America's communities. The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and Wake Education Partnership have come together to help increase business involvement within the Wake County Public School System. Both the Chamber and the Partnership are committed to the Wake County Public School System and to the academic achievement of our students. The Wake County community has adopted the Board of Education's Goal that by 2003, 95% of students tested will score at or above grade level as measured by NC end-of-grade testing in grades three and eight. We see this web site as a significant tool for reaching this goal. The Wake County Public School System is educating students to be responsible and productive citizens who can effectively manage future challenges. Through this web site, we have the opportunity to ensure the success of our students and tomorrow's future. The Wake County Business Education Network would not be possible without the guidance and support of the Web Site Advisory Committee and the leadership of its Chairman, Jeff Stocks, Executive Vice-President of Manpower in Raleigh.
