Barrett Kays & Associates, P.A., as part of a multidisciplinary team, was chosen for the 1998 Best Site/Landscaping Project of the Year. The award was given to BKA on December 17, 1998 in a ceremony at McGraw-Hill's corporate headquarters in New York City. The award was for the ecological restoration of the Great Lawn and Belvedere Lake in Central Park, New York City. In a recent editorial, the New York Times referred to the Central Park restoration project as "a work of extraordinary dedication and a technological feat." The award was featured in the New York Construction News, published by F.W. Dodge, a division of McGraw Hill.

Barrett Kays & Associates, P.A., as part of a multidisciplinary team, was also chosen for the 1998 Honor Award of the American Society of Landscape Architects for the Central Park ecological restoration project. The National Awards are featured in the November 1998 issue of Landscape Architecture Magazine.
